Abstract EN

This study is dealing with the most symbolical significances of the dolphin in ancient Maghreb from both sides the religious and the funeral ones for the Punic people and the Africans (the Numidians, the moors) and broaching with its external origins; either coming from the east from the Pharaonic Egypt and Phenicia or coming from the west from Greece and Italy.

also we tried to know the important mythical animals and deities to what was associated this maritime animal, which made it a symbol of wealth, the immortality, the fertility, the saver of homes and the tombs from devil spirits and made it a ride to move the dead souls to peacefully achieve the after world and reaching their eternal joy.
