Abstract EN

This research is a study of poetic language in the novel " shadow of a body…Limits of desire" By Saad Raheem this novel has an aesthetic language.

The research is developed along four axes and is introduced by the definition of the poetic concept and the identification of the poetic prose.

The four axes as follow: the poetic address, the poetry of the intertextuality, poetry of repetition, the poetry of analogy and metaphor.

The research reached many conclusions, including that the language of the novel was characterised by its intensification and focus on the aesthetic side The title of the novel has a symbolic suggestive function that includes themes which the author focuses on highlighting through three levels.

While intertextuality comes in different forms like religious, Mythological and literally intertextuality, literary intertextuality became even more prominent and starts with local text of Arabic and western origins the concept of repetition is demonstrated by the repetition of single word, sentences and paragraphs as well as the repetitive technique of the dream.

The artistic images used by the writer played a major role in embodying violence, killing and terrorism in the Iraqi context, as well as the expression of some taboos under this harsh condition
