Abstract EN

Postmodernism, with its core principle, breaking with tradition, has had an immense effect on the world.

In literature, it has caused myriads of changes.

Hence, the concept of the unreliable narrator emerged as a consequence.

This article explores the types of unreliable narrators in the cinematic adaptation of Arthur Golden's Memoirs of a Geisha.

There are three different reasons for the narrator's unreliability: Naivety, perplexity, and subjectivity.

Reaching the conclusion that the reason for the unreliability of Sayuri's account is not out of malicious intent but rather out of purely human limitations that occur in some instances and cannot be surpassed in narrating an autobiography.

Thus, making the exception that although the narrator is unreliable, the narrative can still be considered reliable.
