Satan was one of the most prominent subjects in Islamic religious texts, but he was also present in literature.

However, the imaginative nature of this field allowed writers to approach the personality of Satan in a different way than scholars, as they were relatively free from the religious restrictions that governed discussion of matters relating to belief, including in these metaphysical questions.
