Sustainable development has been defined as “development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs,” meaning development based on optimizing the use of resources to meet the needs of the present without compromising the capabilities of future generations.

several pillars fall under this term, the most important of which is (preserving the integrity of the environment) satisfying basic human needs, achieving social justice and providing multiple community solidarity).

one of the outputs of this definition was the realization that sustainable development includes a number of diverse fields, and these areas are of ecological, economic and social value today, this development has become the basis for the development process in the countries of the whole world.

and Iraq is still far from achieving sustainable development due to a number of political, economic and social reasons as well as the blurring of economic policies, as well as the deterioration and depletion of its resources to the Iraqi environment.

all this has made Iraq face challenges that well-being of current generations while preserving the capabilities of generations coming.
