Abstract EN
The poetic dating is a type of poetry that needs quick-wittedness and outstanding arithmetic ability.
It is intended to specify the history of a particular incident or a specific event with letters composing a word or a phrase or a row according to the agreed rules, the total number of these letters equals the date of the intended incident, depending on the numerical value of each letter.
Historians of literature differed in its beginnings.
The poets of Hilla were perfectly creative in this field, and they have a clear imprint in its development, and keeping it alive until this day.
Hardly can you find a poet who did not write in this genre.
Therefore, their works depicted the true image of the history of the city of Hilla and the harmonious relationship among its citizens and depicted how its people are loyal and faithful.
This city is the source of science and the oasis of literature.
Its ink never ended and its light never got dim through the ages.
The research is consisted of seven chapters that discussed this type of poetry with example.
May I be successful in presenting this research, Praise is (due) to Allah, Lord of the Worlds.
