Abstract EN

This study aims to discuss a very important theme which has not been studied historically yet and it comes to rural family in the central Maghreb during the Medieval period for it considered to be the base of any society and the modern Algerian family is an extension of the family in middle Ages.

So, was this family in that time similar to the family today? Or it differed and what are the aspects that make us consider that it is a family.

Some reached result are that the rural family is similar to a large extent the family today in terms of absolute subordination to the father may be due to the nature of deeds he had done.

in other side, to the composition of the male society which has had an impact on the family in terms of the status between male and female.
