Abstract EN

To evaluate the pollution with Lead and Cadmium for the soils and plants of Baghdad governorate, Baghdad governorate was divided into 15 agricultural sites and 20 urban sites.

Soil samples were collected at a depth of 0-30 cm and the plants sample were taken from polluted sites and control samples for all sites.

The results showed the presence of high concentrations of total and available heavy metals in soils of most study sites were which contaminated compared with the control sites for them, exceeded the permitted boundaries globally, as the results indicated that the total concentration of Lead in urban site soils was 323.43 mg kg -1, which is higher compared to the average concentration in agricultural site soils, with a concentration rate of 203.46 mg kg-1, The total concentration of Cadmium in soils of agricultural sites reached 4.42 mg kg -1, which highest compared to an average concentration of urban sites, which amounted to 3.93 mg kg -1, the available concentration rate for Lead and Cadmium in agricultural site soils was 7.81, 0.91 mg kg-1 in succession, which is higher compared to the concentration rate in urban site soils, with a concentration rate of 3.47, 0.26 mg kg-1 in succession, the lead concentration of cultivated plants In agricultural and urban sites, take the following arrangement in terms of accumulation in the tissue of the root plant>stem>leaves as for the elements of Cadmium, the following arrangement has been taken in leaves>stem>roots, and the overall average concentration of Lead in plants grown in urban sites is 24.24 mg kg-1 dry matter, which is higher compared to the soil average agricultural soils 9.29 mg kg-1 dry matter, as the general rate of Cadmium concentration in cultivated plants were in agricultural 1.42 mg.

kg-1 dry matter material alternately, which highest compared to the rate of urban soils sites, which amounted to 1.09 mg kg-1 dry matter.
