Abstract EN

One of the main issues that characterized the military relationship between the Ottoman Empire and Algeria is the problem of the recruitment of young men.

As they were recruited from various Ottoman coasts, and brought for work purposes to Algeria.

This was to achieve both stability and protection from the dangers that surrounded the country.

This process was carried out according to specific and strict laws.

Accordingly; The archival documents in the Archives Center of the Algerian National Library are among the most important sources that shed light on the military cooperation between the Ottoman Empire and Algeria.

This study aims to analyse and investigate some of those documents in order to highlight the reality and mechanisms of recruitment and its importance for Algeria throughout the Ottoman rule and until the French occupation of it in 1830.
