Most of the scholars affirmed that the world of Al-Barzakh (limbo or isthmus) is a reality and not an illusion, citing what the Qur'anic texts have stated and what the imams of Ahl Al-Bayt (peace be upon them) have mentioned the existence of a period that a person spends in his grave between death and resurrection (significance of body and soul separation), which is called the life of Al-Barzakh (limbo or isthmus) and begins from when a person's soul was taken from his body and placing him in the grave and continuing until the Hour of Judgment.

If a person's deed is righteous, his state of Al-Barzakh will be smooth, and if his work is bad, his state of Al-Barzakh (limbo or isthmus) is severe.

Therefore, the Al-Barzakh (limbo or isthmus) is the boundary between two different lives between this world and the resurrection.
