Abstract EN

The research paper targets the topic of unemployment and the economic growth rate in Algeria during the period 1970-2019 according to OKUN approach developed by including the size of the informal economy as another independent variable in the study model, After making sure that there is co-integration between the study variables by adopting the bounds test, the long-term parameters of the ECM model were estimated showed a strong significant effect of the informal economy on unemployment rates.

In view of insignificance of the parameter of the economic growth rate in affecting the unemployment rate, the indirect effect between these two variables was tested by the size of the informal economy as an intermediate variable, and by using the Bootstrap method, it was found that the mediating variable is significant in determining the effect between the rate of economic growth and unemployment
