Abstract EN

The exchange rate is an indicator that determines the economic performance of the country, as it is affected by the tired monetary policy and in turn affects the trade balance and from it imports, and this research highlights the effect of the asymmetry of exchange rate shocks on the imports of the Algerian economy, using the NARDL method for the period 1975-2018.

The study found a long-term equilibrium relationship between the study variables, as well as a mismatch between the positive and negative values of the exchange rate on imports, as the latter are affected by the negative shocks of the exchange rate in the long term, and the study showed a direct relationship between the oil price and imports and the existence of a relationship An inverse between the rate of economic growth and the imports.
