Abstract EN

This study deals with the international military intervention in Libya in 2011, with the aim of identifying its causes, whether for the protection of civilians or in order to protect the national interests of the intervening countries, by relying on the analysis on the principle of the responsibility to protect.

After analyzing the data, this study came to a basic conclusion that: The military intervention in Libya in 2011 mixed two objectives, one of which was declared to protect civilians and the other was hidden, represented in overthrowing the Libyan regime, which is considered a strategic goal for the intervening forces to achieve their national interests, which set the principle The responsibility to protect is at stake in its first real implementation.
