The role of the judiciary in setting and regulating legislative elections is crucial as it ensures the democratic nature of elections and the political system as a whole.

The aim of this research is to explore the role of the judiciary in regulating and setting the electoral process in the Egyptian parliaments since 1976 until 2015.

This research is divided into four main sections.

The first section looks at the intervention by the courts to ensure the right of independent candidates to contest elections in the proportional representation system and the parallel mixed system.

The second section examines how the judiciary ensures the electoral map is equitable and representative to all voters.

The third section studies the role of the judiciary in substantively instituting multipartyism.

The fourth and final section explores the judicial oversight of the elections process.

The study concludes that the Egyptian courts have had an instrumental role in protecting the integrity of elections and upheld democratic norms and constitutional laws.
