The research aims to achieve a major goal represented in standing on the reality of lifestyle and its implications on the pattern and culture of consumption in rural and urban societies.

The research followed the comparative approach to compare the rural and urban areas in the Beheira governorate, and the city of Damanhur was chosen as an example of the urban community and the village of Iflaqa as an urban rural contact and also the village of Abadeya as a village belonging to the city of Damanhur.

From the countryside, the researcher took into account the class and educational level difference in choosing the cases to suit the subject of study.

The most important results indicated that most of the study cases were not concerned with developing plans or a budget for spending, and that the lifestyle and the culture of consumption exist between them in a reciprocal relationship, as each affects the other and also the consumption patterns of the upper class differ from the lower class, and this confirms the occurrence of a difference between the culture of consumption in different classes.

There is a strong relationship between income and the trend towards consumption, and the consumption aspirations of families and children have led to economic and social problems.
