Baby depression is a thymic disorder of consecutive acute evolution at an extended rupture of the maternal bond that is expressed with an affective atony that deprives the baby of his vital appetencies.

Spitz in 1946 proposed the term “anaclitic” to describe a depressive reaction made by the baby due to separation from the mother (Kreisler,2003, p2003) However, baby depression does not only constitute a rupture or an extended separation from the maternal bond as proposed by different authors; rather, we notice this depression suddenly when a rupture of maternal holding despite the dead functions with affection.
The mother gets depressed and her interrelations faint.
This is what we try to shed light on in this paper explaining mothering impotence and the primary maternal preoccupation and the consequences of the maternal deficit on the baby.

La dépression du bébé et un désordre thymique d'évolution aigue consécutif à une rupture prolongée du lien maternel qui s'exprime par une atonie affective qui prive le bébé de ses appétences vitales.

Spitz en 1946 avait proposé le terme anaclitique pour décrire chez le bébé un mode de réaction dépressive à la séparation de la mère.
(Kreisler, 2003, p2003) Mais la dépression du bébé ne constitue pas que une rupture, ou une séparation prolongé du lien maternel, comme l'on proposé divers auteurs, mais aussi on observe cette dépression chez des bébés confrontés soudainement à une rupture ou à une faillite de holding maternel alors que le diade fonctionnait jusque là chaleureusement, la mère se déprime et ses inter-relations se dévitalisent.
C'est ce que nous essayons de présenter dans cet article, en expliquant l'impotence du maternage et la préoccupation maternelle primaire, et les conséquences causées par une défaillance maternelle sur le bébé.
