Abstract EN

Caring for the environment became one of the main methods is measuring the sociological and educational grow in different societies today.

In fact it became a vital tool in measuring the levels of development in general.

In the same way, the Qatari society today is going through economical and sociological changes that affect all of the country different sectors in order to improve and develop the society.

This has created major challenges for the state of Qatar in order to create a balance between general developments on one hand, and protecting the environment on the other.

From that prospective, the state of Qatar have endured clear challenges to prevent production pollution.

This was shown evident in its efforts in establishing standards to try and contain pollution.

It can also be seen in the country’s effort to create protected environmental havens or in the creation of the environment high council to monitor all different environmental cases.

The environment high council also spreads awareness among citizens to help care and maintain a healthy balanced environment to live in.

Thus, the aim of this study is to analyze environmental awareness –in general– in Qatar University’s students, since they are one of the most important human resources effecting the country sociological development cycle.

In additions, the study focuses on the student’s awareness regarding Qatari environment -in specific- and the methods needed to protect the environment, as the main goal of the state of Qatar during this active economical and sociological cycle.

The study sampled six hundred male/female Qatar university students, spread equally between males and females in all the different colleges.

The students were handed detailed surveys containing a variety of questions regarding environmental awareness in general and the Qatari environment in specific and the methods available to prevent pollution.
