Competition in the possession of resources in all its forms is one of the most important causes of ethnic conflicts in the Sahel, in this region the economic resources are limited and the existing ones are not distributed in a fair way, where the dominant groups satisfy their needs first, which leads to the deprivation of marginalized groups, and thus competition for resources takes the form of ethnic conflict Which increases when the state is weak or biased to one party at the expense of another, while following a Western development approach that contradicts the nature of these societies.

These challenges in the Sahel region make developmental economic solutions a necessary task, but how to implement these solutions raises many problems about the extent of their effectiveness, so this article discusses the following question: Can developmental programs be put in place to settle nomads, which are programs of a social nature that preserve identity and customs And the traditions of the inhabitants of these areas provide them with a sustainable livelihood?
