Abstract EN

The participatory budget is considered as a mechanism adopted by many countries to achieve sustainable urban development especially in municipalities and remote areas, including Brazil, France and the US.

For Algeria, the strategy of this project is based on the governmental planning of the participatory budget with as much as inclusiveness as possible and the emphasis on involving everyone more widely and deeply with a more responsive government.

The participatory budget works on enhancing the capacity of local actors to establish a path for development.

In this sense, the place of the Algerian citizen in managing development affairs in his city is no longer just a voter but an actor during elections and participating in decision making concerning the development of his own society and improving the information about local life and communal work, and reducing the barriers that stop him from knowing how decisions are being taken and strengthen the positive interaction between the citizen, the authority and the citizens themselves, and to work on creating social integration and cohesion.
