Abstract EN

The study aimed to reveal the alignment level of mathematics textbooks for upper primary grades with the national standards for the two processes of mathematical reasoning and mathematical communication.

Descriptive approach based on content analysis was employed.

The study sample was limited to student book from mathematics books for upper primary grades (fourth, fifth and sixth Grades) in Saudi Arabia for the academic year 1441/ 1442H, which are (6) books.

The research tool was a content analysis card, designed in the light of the National Standards for public education Curriculums.

The results showed that the extent of alignment of mathematics textbooks for upper primary grades with the national standards for the process of mathematical reasoning was low, with a percentage of (16% ), while the quality of its consistency was moderate, a mean of (2.25).

And the extent of alignment mathematics textbooks for upper primary grades with the national standards for the process of mathematical communication was moderate, with a percentage of (52.7 % ), While the quality of its consistency was high, a mean of (2.47).

The study presented a number of recommendations and suggestions related to its results.
