The mental lexicon represents the hypothetical mental structure in which the various components of it are organized in a complex manner, this structure operates in a fast, automatic and spontaneity manner, as the user of a language does not realize how he accessed this structure; this spontaneity and speed prompted researchers to take advantage of this natural cognitive human phenomenon, and investing it in developing fields and activities related to language.

And as machine translation is one of the most important disciplines that have benefited from the knowledge related to the mental lexicon, especially those related to its regularity; in this article, we will try to analyze the nature of the relationship between the mental lexicon and machine translation, and extract the most prominent scientific results related to the mental lexicon that contributed to the development of machine translation, represented by neural machine translation as a model for its latest kinds, Since this kind also resembles human translation based on artificial neural networks similar to those found in human's brain.
