The study examined the importance of applying green accounting in achieving sustainable development in Sudanese banks, the study aimed to determine the extent to which green accounting is applied in banking sector and to learn about the importance of green accounting in achieving sustainable development.

the problem of the study was in the main question: how much banks managers are aware of the importance of applying green accounting.

the results of the study are that : banks managers are aware of the importance of green accounting in Sudanese banks ; disclosure of environmental activates helps make planning decisions.

the researchers proposed a number of recommendations that contribute to application of green accounting for sustainable development.
