Abstract EN

This paper deals with the competency-based approach and its adoption in vocational training as a strategy in organizing training activities and designing training curricula that keep pace with the ever growing changes in the employment market.

The focus is placed on defining the concept of competency-based approach while tracing its theoretical and historical backgrounds.

The reality of its being put in practice is also exposed with the aim of unveiling the shortcomings that hamper the achievement of the goals set by this sector for the adoption of such an approach.
