Abstract EN

This research deals with the topic of the conditions and procedures for the right to run for elections to the Federal National Council and its guarantees in the Emirates.

During the past two decades, the country witnessed four electoral experiences to choose half of the members of the Federal National Council.

The present study is mainly concerned with the general and special conditions for the membership of the National Council, the procedures for nomination for elections, the candidates’ rights and their guarantees according to the constitution and the executive instructions for the elections.

Before examining the conditions and procedures for the right to present candidature, we had to clarify the concept of political participation and its characteristics in the United Arab Emirates, and we ended the study with a conclusion that included the most important proposals.
