Abstract EN

The forms of interest in readings are varied and they are not limited to letter distribution and elocution.

Readings were and are still an ample field for cross - cutting studies in various areas, including the reading of Imam al - Muhadithin (may Allah have mercy on him) Muhammad bin Muslim bin Shihab Al - Zuhri (D.

124 AH) who collected and catalogued the Sunnah.

In this research, I sought to serve the Book of Allah the Almighty, highlight the status of this Imam, and do him justice by examining the Quranic readings attributed to him.

Adopting a descriptive and analytical approach, with an emphasis on analysis, I meant to present an objective picture of hadith imams in the field of Quranic studies.

In the study, I clearly showed the efforts of this imam in transmitting some of the readings and choosing them for preservation and performance.

I have also made it clear that Imam al - Zuhri’s recitations were not limited to seven or ten.

Moreover, they were not limited to what corresponds to the editing styles of the Qur’anic text (which are many), nor were they confined to the four above the ten.

His readings stood out alone and they were not shared by others despite their linguistic status and inferences in relation to sharia.

The books of Qur’anic exegesis (Tafseer) make significant references to them, but he was not (may Allah have mercy on him) among those who wrote in abundance in this field.

Perhaps the reason for this is his engagement in other works and his frequent preoccupation with the Sunnah and Prophetic hadiths.
