Abstract EN

This research tackles the difference among interpreters about the word “generations”, mentioned in the Quranic verse: “then we raised other generations after them” [The Believers: 42].

It clarifies its meaning and synonyms, while comparing the qualities of these “generations” in this verse to other qualities mentioned in similar verses of the Quran in the same context.

The researcher adopted the descriptive, analytic and inductive method.

The research came up with a number of results, the most important of which are: the most likely interpretation of the “generations”, mentioned in the Quranic verse, is the reference to Aad, the people of Hud, according to most Qur’anic exegetes.
