Abstract EN

The research deals with the image of maternity of birds in pre-Islamic poetry through studying maternity of eagle, specifically, in pre-Islamic poetry.

Thus, it required tracking in pre-Islamic poetry through the descriptive analytical method, based on inducting the pre-Islamic poetry.

Besides, the analysis of those images and their relationship to the contexts in which they are presented, the type of the image it represents, and what the poet is aiming at from this image.

Thus, this research is an attempt to reveal the maternal image of this predatory.

The results show that the image of maternity of the eagle, its eggs, and its eaglet were mentioned by different emotions: emotion of (tenderness), emotion of (tenderness with sadness), and emotion of (tenderness with impotence).

The emotion of tenderness was the dominant, then the emotions of (tenderness with sadness), emotion (tenderness with impotence) rarely appeared.

Each of them only mentioned once.

In the emotion of (tenderness), the story ended with the victory of eagle, returning safe to the chicks and eaglet with abundant hunting, whether in the context of hunting, or war.

In both contexts, the poet resembled his quick horse with the eagle.

An exception to this is the image is the poet of Tramp who resembled himself to the eagle but not his horse.

While, the passion of (tenderness with impotence) appeared in the context of lamentation where the eagle could not return to the eaglet with the prey for which they went out.

Some poets aversion to the image of eagle maternity, because in the eagle maternity to its eggs and eaglet, some signs of brutality appear through chases and violent attacks on other animals.
