Starting from the observation that the shared garden is a space of proximity and of initiation to civility aiming at reinforcing conviviality and involving citizens in the life of their city, the article analyses this type of garden as a practice which involves a process of participation.
It promotes a sense of belonging and home on the one hand, and constitutes a vector for success in urban proximity management and the improvement of the neighbourhood living environment on the other.
The case of the “Ezzouhour Garden” in the AADL (National Agency for Housing Improvement and Development) Boumati housing estate, located in El Harrach (Algiers), with its specificity as the first community garden in Algeria and as a pilot operation, shows that its operational implementation contributes to the mobilisation and appropriation of residents.

Partant du constat que le jardin partagé est un espace de proximité, d’initiation à la civilité visant à conforter la convivialité et à impliquer les citoyens dans la vie de leur cité, l’article analyse ce type de jardin comme pratique qui engage un processus de participation.
Cela favorise le sentiment d’appartenance et de chez soi, d’une part, et constitue, d’autre part, un vecteur de réussite dans la gestion urbaine de proximité et de l’amélioration du cadre de vie du quartier.
Le cas du jardin « Ezzouhour » de la cité AADL Boumati, situé dans la commune d’El-Harrach à Alger, avec sa spécificité de premier jardin partagé en Algérie et d’opération pilote, montre que sa mise en oeuvre opérationnelle contribue à la mobilisation et l’appropriation habitante.
