Abstract EN

In the itroduction to this article the author introduces the issues to be dealt with .

These issues include: 1- That there are strong supporters for both clloquial & Classical (Fusha) Arabic dialects.

2- That it is more benificial to try to undurstand the nature of colloquial Arabic than to argue for or againt its use.

3- Colloquial Arabic dialect has been with us for a long time 4- The vocabulary of the colloquial dialect is derived from the classical.

Some words have been changed somewhat in form or meaning.

5- Some of the research on onigins of colloquial vocabubary has been quite poor.

6- The assumption that the distance between colloquial and classical dialects is large has influenced this research .

7- Some words in the colloquial dialect have acquired new meanings 8- The playwrite is the one who needs the colloquial dialect most.

9- The dividing line between the two dialects is only imaginary .

The main body of the article elaborates each of these issues.

The author closes by saying that the dividing line between the two dialects is imaginary and should be eliminated from the minds of people.

It is actually not in the interest of the Classical dialect to be completely isolated from the Colloequial.
