The article starts with the statement that the geographical and environmental nature of Palestinian has left a great deal of influence on Palestinian people and on their verbal folklore, including their proverbs.

Proverbs reflect, to a significant degree, the intellectual life of the Palestinian people, bedouin, villagers, and city dwellers Different influences on the proverb are elaborated in the article starting with the influence of the natural enviroument.

This is manifested through the existence of many proverbs dealing the terrain, the weather, the seasons and the months of the year.

Economic aspects are also well reflected in Palestinian proverbs with special emphasis on land, agriculture, and other aspects of village economy.

Proverbs reflect also different social aspects of Palestinian life including hospitality, magic, the evil eye, folk curing, food habits, peace making, and conflict resolution
