Abstract EN

The period between 2014 to 2017 is considered as one of the difficult and dark periods of that passed over the city of Mosul in specific and Iraq in general.

On 9/6/2014 hundreds of Isis militants occupied Mosul after the a sudden withdraw of the Iraqi army with the surprise of the citizens and all observers.

Since that day, the city entered a dark tunnel lasted until June of 2017, this period was the harshest years of the history of Mosul and Nineveh governorate during its contemporary history.

Isis committed the most heinous crimes against all humanity and specially against mosulian people.

Their crimes affected all fields of mosulian community without exception from 9/6/2014 until the day of liberation, declared by Iraqi prime minister Haider Al-Abadi on 10/6/2017.

Mosulian athletes had a huge share of sacrifices, just like other segments of the society.

This research aims to show the influence of Isis occupation on sport movement in Mosul and the damages of buildings and sport facilities and stadiums which made sports stop during his period.

The number of martyrs among athletes reached dozens in different ways of death and arrest without a trial or charges, some of them were martyred at home as a result of boning during the process of liberation, others were kidnapped by Isis without a trace till now, some died out of sadness and disability to exercise and bad psychological status.
