The present study aimed to investigate the effect of using the strategy of (lateral thinking) on the chemical achievement of fourth grade students in chemistry.

To verify the research objectives, the researcher formulated the following hypothesis: - There is no statistically significant difference between the average scores of the experimental group students and the average scores of the control group students in the achievement test.

To verify the validity of this hypothesis, the researcher conducted an experiment that lasted a full course of study.

The following procedures were adopted: -The experimental design (partial control) was chosen for two equal groups (experimental and control), as the researcher (Umm al-Mu'minin and Uqba ibn Nafi), from day schools, within the Tikrit district deliberately chose a field of experiment, and the research sample consisted of (66) students.

They were randomly assigned to two groups, an experimental group of 15 male and 18 female students taught by Lateral Thinking Strategy, and an officer of 18 male and 15 female students taught in the traditional way.

For the safety of the researcher researcher rewarded between the two research groups in some variables that may have an impact on the independent variable (such as chronological age, intelligence and first course scores)- -The scientific material for the research was determined by units (1 and 2) of the book of chemistry scheduled for the fourth grade of scientific 2016-2017.

36 behavioral objectives were identified and the researcher prepared the teaching plans for both groups.

-The researcher prepared the necessary tools for the research where he prepared a test for achievement, the number of paragraphs (32) test items of the type of multiple choice.

-After preparing the research requirements, the researcher applied the experiment in the first course of the academic year (2016-2017).

The researcher taught the two research groups himself, and after the end of the experiment and the application of tests and get the results, they were treated statistically using descriptive statistical methods (dispersion measures), Central tendency and correlation coefficients), and heuristics include T tests, as well as non-parametric statistical methods such as square K, results have shown: The experimental group students outperformed the control group students in the collectionBased on the results, the researcher concluded that the adoption of the strategy of lateral thinking in teaching has a positive impact in increasing the achievement of his students, and in this light the researcher made a number of recommendations in addition to a number of proposals.
