Abstract EN

This paper gives a general definition of the Surre records in the Otoman archives, which contain the names of the financial allocations recipients in the three cities: Makkah, Madinah and Jerusalem.

They also contain the names of the (Evkaf) endowments from which funds were allocated.

Before the Hajj caravan leaves Istanbul, the records were written, and when it reaches its destination in the three cities, the Judge (Qadhi) in each of them starts distributing the money to the people registered in those records.

Furthermore, in a designated page, he writes a statement testifying its distribution and sets his seal to it.

This page is given special attention in this paper, since it contains the names of the Nazir Alawqaf and its inspector in the Ottoman state and in some cases the names of Haram Sheikh or other seals.

The most important benefits of this page are: Proof of the distribution of the Surre, Identifying the names of judges in Makkah, Medina and Jerusalem, and the capability of tracking them since the allocation of the Surre at the beginning of the eleventh century A.H./ the late sixteenth century A.D.
