Abstract EN

This study aimed at identifying the practicing degree of administrative communication.

It also aimed at identifying the barriers that affect the effectiveness of administrative communication in governmental secondary school among schools principals in Northern Jeddah.

This was done based on the views of schools principals' and the teachers in order to know the differences between the two parties regarding to the practicing degree of administrative communication and the barriers upon secondary school principals.

In this study, the researcher adopted a descriptive approach as a research method.

The study sample included all governmental secondary school principals in Northern Jeddah, which involved (24) principals, and a random sample included (699) governmental secondary school teachers.

To achieve the aims of the study, the researcher designed a questionnaire consisting of two parts: the first part is composed of (18) items about the practicing degree of administrative communication.

The second part comprises (28) items about administrative communication barriers.

The validity of the questionnaire was approved.

The study yielded the following results: (1) the practicing degree of administrative communication upon governmental secondary school principals in northern Jeddah, from the principals' standpoint, is generally high.

Specially in using the means of verbal and written communication, whereas the using of electronic means of communication is medial.

(2) The practicing degree of administrative communication upon governmental secondary school principals in northern Jeddah, from the teachers' viewpoint turned up to be medial.

The using written means of communication is high, but the using of verbal and electronic means of communication is medial.

(3) Administrative communication barriers upon governmental secondary school principals are high from the principals' standpoint.

On the other hand, it is medial from the teachers' standpoint.

(4) Statistically significant differences were found at the practicing degree of administrative communication among governmental secondary school principals attributed to the effect of functional level and therefore, the differences were in favor of the principals.

(5) Statistically significant differences were found at administrative communication barriers among governmental secondary school principals attributed to the effect of functional level and therefore, the differences were in favor of the teachers.

In the light of these results, the researcher has recommended some suggestions.
