Abstract EN

This study aims to identify the educational role of social media in the educational process in Saudi universities and the obstacles that face the teaching staff of Saudi universities.

It is a descriptive study by choosing a sample from 150 teaching staff at King Abdul-Aziz University during the academic year 2019-2020, using the survey.

The study reached several findings, including, the study affirms the importance of using social media in the educational process in Saudi universities, given the benefits it brings for teaching staff and learners.

The study recommended the necessity of setting procedural steps to confront obstacles and activating the use of the social media in the educational process in Saudi universities, as it is concerned with preparing learners and enhancing technical and academic skills among the teaching staff to follow up new methods of teaching and learn, the study confirmed that using the social media provide learners with critical and logical thinking skills, especially that university students have become a vast majority of social media users in Saudi Arabia.
