Abstract EN

The study aimed at identifying the problems facing and reported practicum students in Special Education Department- Mental Impairment.

Participants were 25 female students in Majmaah university enrolled in Special Education Department.

The study adopted the survey to collect data and the descriptive method to report the problems.

Results indicated that participants quite agree upon the problem facing practicum students with average 2.22 out of 3.

The problems reported by students was ordered according to the means of students responses; the professional preparation problems was in the first level with means 2.25, the problems related to the class teacher was in the second level with means 2.22 and the problems related to school administration was in the third level with means 2.18.

The final level was the problems related to the academic advisory with means 2.02.

In light of results, the study recommends considering first the practical aspects of planning and teaching the mental impairment courses, second the micro-practicum that helps to solve professional problems, third more investigations to evaluate practicum programs in Mental Impairment department, and finally drawing the attention of experts in Special Education-Mental-impairment in particular- to reconsider practicum to solve these different problems and improve the target outcomes.
