Abstract EN

Lebanon is one of the ethnic and sectarian countries.

Such nations of its society reflects its political grates on all levels.

This leads the gate to instability on the social sector through times.

Among these sects are the Orthdox who turned to be a fundamental part of the society and their political role is invisible, namely after the fall down of Turkish occupation and the foundation of the Lebanon State in 1920 by the French.

The French gave the State feature of abhorrent sectarian when gave authority to the Christians and excluded other sects.

This helped them to control the highest positions in the country with the help of other sects acceptance, who play a marginal role, in the country, particularly from 1918 to 1946.

As far as choosing the year 1918 as the grating point of this research is because it is the time of fall of the Turkish dominance while choosing 1946 since it is the time of declaring independence of Lebanon and the retreat of the army.

The researcher adopts the descriptive analytic historical approach in this paper to show the historical order of events.

The paper deals with * set of important themes including: the existence of the Orthodox in Lebanon till 1918, the attitude of the Orthodox towards the political and legislative developments in Lebanon from 1918 to 1964 and the Orthodox and the Lebanese in-tuition of 1926.

In addition, the research concerns with the forming of the government and the participation of the Orthodox 1926-1947, the role of the Orthodox in the legislative council and finally the role of the Orthodox in the political developments in Lebanon 1943-1946.
