Abstract EN

This study aimed to assess the role of microfinance Insti- tutions (MFIs) in financing and developing the rural sector (RS) in Sudan, applied in Northern State.

The main problem of the study is (do (MFIs) contribute effectively to finance the (RS) and then its development?).

The study assumes that the (MFIs) has a positive role on financing and developing (RS).

To te& this hypothesis an analytical descriptive approach was used to analyze annual data collected for (MFIs) in the study area.

The most important results showed that (MFIs) play an important role in financing and developing the (RS).

The main recommendations of study are to increase the ceiling of microfinance for the (RS) enable the poor farmers and small producers to access microfinance.

Establish business centers and incubators that are interested to training in projects man- agement, follow up on funding projects to ensure their success.

Focus on rural manufacturing, funding the activities of rural women.

Focus on the groups guarantee system in microfinance.
