Abstract EN

The problem with this research is to determine how the digital world is affected by the spread and transmission of rumours.

Additionally, this research also looks into whether the traditional or the electronic rumour is more common.

This research falls under the category of descriptive research.

This is due to the fact that a comprehensive research was conducted on the rumours that were intercepted by the national cell for the psychological operations in which were 263 rumours between the periods of 20/08/2018 until 31/01/2019.

This research has concluded that the electronic rumours have overrun the traditional rumours by a large extent.

Furthermore, Facebook bypassed all other social media platforms due to the amounts of rumours that it contained.

It was evident that the main topic of these rumours was about security, followed by political and social topics through both traditional and electronic rumours.

Whereas the most used method to spread the traditional rumours was through the transportation system
