Abstract EN

Context is a one of the pivotal pillars of a sound understanding of linguistic texts.

The Islamic religious discourse is no exception whether we mean the internal context of the whole religious discourse.

Since context brings the discourse together into a valid harmonized unity whatever the situations, factors or topics; or we mean the internal context of a single text that organizes the parts of texts in a cohesive and coherent manner, or we mean a set of events and circumstances that surround jurisprudence discourse.

Many Muslim scholars worked on context, without naming so, thus, interpreters of Qur’an worked on it to account for the occasions for revelation and the proportionality of verses and chapters.

Fundamentalist Muslim Scholars also used this method in research areas such as motives, contradictions and preponderance in addition to prophetic traditions’ scholars who worked on context to query reasons for conversing the Hadith and biographies of people who reported it.

That is why, any reflection on many distortions that tainted jurisprudence texts could realize the result of misunderstanding the context.

Paying heed to the context of texts while grappling with meaning would prevent researchers, preachers and students of jurisprudence from misunderstandings of texts.

This paper seeks to contribute to grasp how context is pivotal to text.
