Abstract EN

This research aims to analyze the effects of poverty on the social and scientific status of the people of Potiskum local government of Yobe state, Nigeria.

The researchers provided a historical background of Potiskum, the nature of poverty in the city, together with its causes and solutions.

The researchers concluded that Potiskum was one of the famous cities having a top economic status in the state.

As it has a share of poverty which has weakened the quality of knowledge of its people, and pushed many young men and ladies to commit prohibitions in order to provide for their necessary needs.

Finally, the researchers recommended the necessity of establishing a fund for zakat, donations and endowments in the city, which is concerned with achieving the basic necessities of life; by providing vital projects that serve the people, and provide them with their needs such as schools, hospitals and dwellings among others.
