Abstract EN

The current study aimed at investigating the extent of including the dimensions of intellectual and cultural security in social studies curricula in secondary schools, and developing a proposed conception of these curricula in the kingdom of Saudi Arabia in light of the dimensions of intellectual and cultural security.

the study population consisted of (518) social studies teachers in Asir, al-Baha and Najran regions, and the sample included (49) male teachers and (31) female teachers.

the researcher relied on the analytical descriptive research design as the study approach and the used questionnaire as the study instrument.

the study reached the following results : the extent of including each of (religious dimension–political and military (national) dimension-cultural dimension-social dimension-economic dimension) in social studies curricula of secondary schools, from the point of view of teachers was (average) with a (2.63) arithmetic mean; there are no statistically significant differences at significance level (0.05) in the opinions of the sample regarding the questionnaire axes and the total degree of the questionnaire according to the variables of (gender-educational qualification).the researcher designed a proposed conception to include the dimensions of intellectual and cultural security in the social studies curricula of secondary schools ; the study recommended including intellectual security requirements in a way that enhances its solidification in learners, and the need for teachers to link the social studies curriculum to current events and contemporary issues in different educational levels.
