The aim of this research was to investigate the effectiveness of a proposed strategy based on the Woods model in developing grammar comprehension skills among secondary school students and determine the level of mastery of first graders in grammar comprehension skills.
To achieve the above purpose, the researcher used the descriptive analytical method, and the quasi-experimental approach with experimental design in two groups: experimental and control.
Test the grammar comprehension skills of first graders and the experimental processing materials represented in the teacher's guide to train students to use the proposed strategy based on the Woods model to develop grammar comprehension skills.
The researcher applied the proposed strategy to the study sample consisting of (60) first grade secondary students divided into two groups (experimental and control).
The study revealed a list of grammar comprehension skills that included four main skills under which fifteen sub-skills are included, as well as the inability of first graders in general comprehension skills, and the effectiveness of the proposed strategy based on the Woods model in developing grammar comprehension skills for first graders; In light of the results of the study, the researcher recommended the reformulation of the content of grammatical competence according to the Woods model for the secondary stage, and the need to include the skills of grammar understanding in the curriculum of Arabic language for secondary school students.
