Abstract EN

This research aimed to identify the effectiveness of using the learning management system (Edmodo) in developing the digital citizenship for Elementary Schools’ Female Teachers in Makkah, through professional development program offered via the system.

In order to achieve the goal of this study, the researchers prepared the research tools which were cognitive and performance tests in addition to a product evaluation rubric.

Using a pre-experimental method, and after verifying its accuracy and validity, the study was applied on the sample, which consisted of 15 female teachers from one of the private schools in Makkah.

the results of the study revealed that Edmodo has achieved high level of effectiveness, also showed there was a statistical significance between the means of pre and posttests of experimental group who used the learning management system (Edmodo).

Also, there was a statistical significance at the level of 0.05 for the product evaluation rubric.

The professional development program of digital citizenship depended on modeling and applying the mechanism of developing the digital citizenship in its original environment.

Using (Edmodo) system, the researcher proposed several recommendations such as: guiding teacher to use different digital environments during teaching digital citizenship programs, as well as integrating digital citizenship in the pre-service and in service teachers’ professional development programs
