Abstract EN

The Red Sea coast is considered a model for global coasts because of its bays, islands and ports and the importance of these ports in international trade and navigation and their strategic and political importance.

This study comes to identify one of the most important ports of the Red Sea coasts the most prominent of which is the importance of commercial and political aspects locally and internationally throughout the historical ages which is the port of Bada.

This port occupied great importance and prestige during the Islamic ages due to its strategic location on the Eritrean coast and its proximity to the southern gate from the entrance to Bab al-Mandab, where the leader of the important commercial ports on the Red Sea was standing and occupied a prominent center for international trade crossing the Red Sea, and the port was used as exile for foreigners.

Obedience during the Islamic period was also used as a strategic military base in the face of the Christian Abyssinian threat.

The study reached several conclusions, including that the important strategic location of Bada' port made it a commercial port and it was a meeting place for merchants from all over the world.

Its location also helped establish distinguished commercial relations with a number of commercial ports located on the coast of the Red Sea, and then effectively contributed to stimulating trade at the local, regional and international levels during the Islamic eras.

One of the most important goals is to recognize the importance of Badaa as a commercial port that played an important role in commercial activity on the Red Sea coast.

And also to know the effects that resulted from those trade links, which left clear imprints in the economic, civilizational, cultural and political history in the region, and to shed light on the political importance of the port of Badhia during the Islamic eras The research method is the historical method that usually follows the study of events and facts, and whose goals include collecting material from its original sources and analyzing the historical fact.

Then the analytical descriptive approach that depends on describing the phenomenon and the historical event and analyzing it in order to reach the goals of the research and achieve them.

The research problem is summarized in the fact that the geographical framework has wide extensions in different directions in the different civilizational and cultural levels of those associated with the field of study, which made the researcher an effort to investigate and conclude to monitor the continuing events in tracking the commercial and political importance of the port of Bada'a.

The subject of the study covers a historical period for quite some time, which is the period of Islamic historical eras during the first Hijri centuries.

The geographical framework of the study includes the Red Sea east.coast, which extends between latitudes 14-22 north and longitudes 24-38.
