Abstract EN

The Hejaz had many important events during the twentieth century.

This study focuses on the relationship between Shariff Hussain Bin Ali and the Ottoman Empire (19081916-).

During this period key important historical events took place that lead to the establishment to the Kingdom of Hejaz on the year of 1916.

This study will aim to answer the following questions: What were the main reasons for the establishment of the Kingdom of Hejaz? What was the nature of the relationship between Shariff Hussain and the Committee of Union and Progress? What was the impact of World War I on Shariff Hussain? This study applied historical analysis with focusing on comparative historical narratives.

It was proven that the relationship between the Ottoman Empire and Shariff Husain was very significant.

The Hejaz region was very attractive to the Ottoman as it contained the holy sites.

The ottoman Empire had always appreciated the Shariff dynasty and had given privilege to this state such financial privilege and tax exemptions.

This study suggests that Hussain was loyal to the Ottoman Empire and the Ottoman Sultan.

Nevertheless, the Committee of Union and Progress exercised power and abuse of Arabs in 1914 which had created tension between the Emir of Makkah and the Ottoman Sultan.
