Abstract EN

The study dealt with monitoring and analyzing the efficiency and distribution of health services in the Khartoum city using geographic information systems.

the problem study was represent in the weakness of spatial planning and the random of the distribution, concentration services, and the city of Khartoum, as part of reality, suffers from the lack of spatial planning of health services.

their concentration and distribution it is inefficient, difficulty to access, and the randomness of distribution inconsistent with the standards that meet the needs of society.

the main objective of this study is to analyze the current situation of spatial distribution of health services, and the extent of their efficiency and suitability to spatial planning standards that meet the needs of the local community in the city of Khartoum, in its approach.

the study followed the descriptive and analytical approach based on the population census carried out by the central bureau of statistics in 2008.

an analysis and evaluation of the spatial distribution of health services through comparison with the planning standards of health services in force in some neighboring countries, and using the method of nearest neighbor analysis.

the study found that the study area suffers from poor distribution and insufficiency, which has exerted pressure on the service and negatively affects the health level of the population, and that there are deficiencies in the number of public and reference hospitals in Jebel Aulia locality.

the study recommended a number of recommendations, the most important of which is laying foundations and standards for hospital sites and the number of people served by the ministry of health,.

determining the appropriate site for opening any hospital, especially private hospitals, and adopting advanced geographic information systems technology in planning health services sites in order to reach the best results in time and cost less.
