Abstract EN

This article explains the relationship between the material and non-material aspects of folk culture, and points out that both aspects are manifestations of the folk mentality of a people The author then talks in detail about the material aspect in particular giving illustrations from several cultures around the world with special emphasis on Palestinian folk material culture as portrayed in previous folklore studies and in Palestinian folk museums Finally the author gives a detailed example of one item of folk material culture, the “ Milqat” a word which , in Arabic, combines the items referred to in Enghish by several terms such.as clip, pin, clothespin, tweezers, tongs , and forceps
