Abstract EN

This article traces present day Palestinian folk costumes back to Canaanite costumes and explains that Palestinian folk costumes, have several other functions in addition to the obvious practical one , including the symbolic and the esthetic.

The wide variety of Palestinian folk costumes are demonstrated in this article by including pictures of the costumes of the different regions of Palestine, each accompanied by few lines of folk poetry highlighting the major characteristics of the costume of that particular region.
