Norway has been repeatedly appointed by the United Nations (UN) as one of the countries with the best system for most people on a global basis.

This is a classic welfare state that takes care of its youngest inhabitants, provides schooling, provides everyone with a free health service and pays care and old homes for the elderly when they can no longer afford to take care of themselves.

This is a country of norms, both formal and informal, which for many people is a distant and unthinkable dream.

But is this a system that is possible to maintain in the long run, or is this too expensive system? What challenges can one predict that the welfare state faces in the future? In this article I will explain certain concepts, as well as to try to answer the questions above before I will eventually try to answer how can one solve the problems the welfare state will face in the future.

But what is a welfare state? The concept of a welfare state can be used when describing a state that has established state schemes and institutions to correct the differences between people in a society.

A welfare state is a state that is based on principles such as equality and security for all and means in principle that the state assumes responsibility to increase the standard of living, health and economy of the people independent social status and class affiliation.
